Physiotherapy is indicated for many conditions including work-related, sports, and motor vehicle accident injuries. It can be used for both acute and chronic conditions. Physiotherapy can be used to monitor and treat the effect of chronic ongoing musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. It is also used for the monitoring and re-education of gait, posture, and lifting techniques. Typical conditions addressed include tendonitis, bursitis and other soft tissue conditions. We also treat joint and muscle strains/sprains, neck and back conditions, including pinched nerve and disc conditions, arthritis (OA and RhA) as well as neurological and connective tissue disorders.
While acupuncture has been around for thousands of years, it has only recently become a mainstay of modern medicine. Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body. The effect of the needles is to stimulate nerves and muscles, to relieve pain, reduce spasm and muscle tension, and to help control inflammation. Acupuncture is a restricted therapy and can be only be provided by practitioners with specialized training. For many it is not painful and can be highly effective for symptom relief.
Massage therapy is a service that can be used to ease muscle pain, treat pain from injury and reduce stress. Massage therapy may be coupled with services such as physiotherapy to aid in the healing process of work-related, sports, and motor vehicle accident injuries. Common conditions treated by massage therapy include frozen shoulder, sciatica pain, carpal tunnel, sinus, and lower back pain(lumbar). Massage therapy is not only beneficial to assist in healing injuries or relieving pain but may also offer some peace and relaxation to the individual.
